Course LTC-002
This Basic Pistol Safety course is a National Rifle Association (NRA) course. It follows a specific, thorough teaching outline complimented with NRA supplemental material and is taught the "NRA Way." This course is approved by the Massachusetts State Police and is known as LTC-002. It is the course you need to satisfy Massachusetts Law in order to apply for a License to Carry Firearms or a Firearms Identification Card. The course is taught with NRA materials, the instructor's numerous teaching aids, firearms and many years of safe, practical experience. The course can be "broken up" into two days instead of one.

Basic Pistol Safety Course
This course deals with the Basic knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for owning and using a pistol safely. Through this course, the student will learn about pistol parts and operation, ammunition, gun safety, Massachusetts laws regarding firearms, safe storage and transportation and shooting fundamentals. It is not a self-defense course. Students are encouraged to take additional shooting courses to become more proficient in their shooting skills. Upon successful completion of the course, students will receive a Certificate to be included with their licensing application, along with a letter to the licensing authority listing the elements of the course.

Student Identification
You must bring a form of identification that is currently active and valid and present it to the Instructor before class begins. Your identification will be photo copied and placed in your permanent student file. Identification must have a photo of you and must be issued by a state or federal agency. Typical IDs are: a Drivers License, a U. S. Passport, a Firearms Identification card, a License To Carry Firearms, a Department of Defense (DOD) employee ID, a State of Federal employee ID, etc. Student identification also applies to anyone taking a Moon Island practice session or the actual Moon Island Range Test. No exceptions.

Students Who Will Bring a Firearm
Certain cities and towns require those who are renewing a License to Carry Firearms to take this course as part of their licensing renewal. For those students who will arrive carrying a loaded firearm, this note. There is NO LIVE AMMUNITION allowed in the classroom. A Safe Area is provided for you to safely unload and legally store your ammunition and firearm. You may also bring your "carry ammunition" as a supplement to shooting exercises on the range.

The instructor furnishes all firearms and ammunition needed for the course. However, if you are licensed and bring your own revolver or semi-automatic pistol, there is ample range time to review your shooting with your own firearm. If you want to bring your own firearm, you must: (1) notify the Instructor before coming to the course, and (2) present your current, valid Massachusetts License To Carry to the instructor upon arrival. Your License will be photo copied and placed in your permanent student file. No exceptions.
